Notes on lighting
The uses of light within our Opening Title Sequence was effective in creating a dark mysterious atmosphere. The uses of candles light was effective as it creates a sense of the close darkness this is because the naked flame only illuminates a small area making the area around it seem darker than it is gave the audience the feeling of mystery, fear and anticipation of the unknown.
Due to the fact that the forest scene was shot in daylight, during the editing process we added the effect 'cool tones', this made the scene darker symbolising the mystery of the death of the baby.
The red light given of from the fire created a feeling of danger within our opening title sequence, this was useful as it gives the audience the feel that something is wrong and that the situation is dangerous. The colour red shows the danger towards minors as the fire symbolises the death of the baby.
The use of a single red candle being blown out at the end shows the loss of life, this is relevant to Dimme as she died during child birth and now haunts and kills children. The white naked flame represents the innocence of the children and how their life has been taken away from them.
